Things We Can't Live Without Right Now...
(In no particular
order)
1
Twin Pac N Play
This thing is great!
The girls sleep like babies in it. J It is big enough for them to sleep in until
they are several months old… or until I can handle putting them in their room.
2
Glow Worm and Glow
Sea Horse
I know the girls will
love them for the glowing aspect some day, but I love them for that reason now. I can
see each girlie’s face without turning on a bright light. They fall asleep listening to the white noise.
3
Colic Calm
We call this Baby
Crack, The Good Stuff, or The Medicine! It is gripe water at its best! While
researching it, there were a few negative comments about a sedative. It’s Lemon
Balm people, which is considered a natural sedative because it is calming and relieves
anxiety. I thought that was the whole point of gripe water… Anyway, thank the
Lord that we’ve only needed to use it a handful of times.
4
Gerber Soothe
We’ve experimented
with almost every formula, and this is very good for fussiness.
5
Medium Speed Nipples
These have saved me
hours in feedings! The girls were falling asleep about every once with a slow nipple. Feedings went from almost 2 hours to about 30 minutes.
6
Vibrating Bouncers
These are instant
soothers! They are awesome spots for naps and just chilling! The girls have gotten a bit spoiled by the vibrating thought. :/
7
Swing
I read that I only
needed one of these, but now I see that we are going to definitely need two (If
you have one not being used, I’d love to take it off your hands!). It is one of the only things, other than
Colic Calm, that stops the evening screams! I don’t love that this swing is
battery powered though. I think Fisher Price is
in cahoots with Energizer!
8
Aden and Anais
Swaddlers
My girls won’t sleep
with their arms loose; they have to be swaddled tightly! These swaddlers are
nice and big, but they are also made with very light linen material so they aren't super hot. I’ve heard that TJ Maxx has similar ones for a better price.
9
Paci Clips (Thanks
Brittany; Sorry, I don’t what you have named them)
These are wonderful
because they save the pacifiers from falling on the floor and getting lost!
10
Paci Decal (Thanks
Amanda)
These help us to keep
the pacifiers on the right baby. They also help people tell the babies apart
without having to ask! J
11
Baby Stations
I keep one stocked
with diapers, wipes, bibs, and hand sanitizer in the living room and the
bedroom. It keeps me from having to leave one baby to take care of the other.
12
Boppy Pillows
I use these most when
I have to feed the girls at the same time.
Put one baby on each side, and take turns feeding them until they both are both
satisfied.
13
Sleep Training!
This book taught me a
lot about scheduling sleeping and eating, and how to soothe the girls without
training them to be held. A few tips; lay them down to sleep while they are
drowsy but before they are asleep, if they wake up and cry- DON’T automatically
pick them up but soothe them quickly then walk away, and create a night time routine
that helps the babies learn what to expect at bed time. I learned elsewhere to train the babies to nap anywhere. Lay them down in different spots for naps so they won't be picky/fussy nappers.
14
Twins 101
This book was written
by a Pediatrician who had twins so I trust her advice more than other “twin
experts” who are ladies who just had twins.
Best advice so far; KEEP THE TWINS ON THE SAME SCHEDULE- If one eats or
sleeps, they both do. All babies need routine,
but twins do even more (mothers of twins do most)!
15
Kandoo Wipes
My girls are
suffering from a bit of baby Eczema on their faces, and it is painful to just
look at. L I
try not to use wet wipes on their faces, but they get milk all over themselves when they eat! These wipes are for sensitive skin and they smell great!
16
A big supply of
diapers and wipes
I don’t want to ever
run out of diapers when in need. This is
the supply that I have from showers! It should last us until the girls are big
enough to fill out their cloth diapers. Then we’ll see how that goes…
17
Mesh Sock Bag (Thanks
Crystal)
Never lose baby socks
in the washer again!
18
Shout Spray and Wash
A yellow formula
stain is nasty, and even nastier is a poop stain from a diaper blow out. This stuff works great for both!
19
A surplus of bottles
I wash 8 bottles
twice a day. Right now, I’m using
Playtex Ventaire and they are nice. I
have a butt load of Doctor Brown’s but I don’t have the level two nipples for
them and can’t find any. I’ll be using
them when we’re ready for level three!
20
(Last but certainly
not least!!!!)
COFFEE
Hot, iced, black, or
with yummy creamer- as much as you can get. One positive of not breastfeeding
is that I can drink all the coffee I want… or need.
A few things that I’m not a fan of…
Two piece outfits for
newborns
The shirt ends up
around around her neck all day. So dumb.
This book
Written by a self
proclaimed “twin expert”, this thing terrified me. I thought I would cry for months, have double
postpartum depression, and never figure out how to handle two babes. I ended up quitting this read half way
through when I realized that I was getting depressed and scared from reading
it.
I know there are lots
of new mommies and soon-to-be mommies out there, so maybe my must haves will
help you out. Maybe your must haves are totally different! Maybe you think I’m
an idiot… to each his own, right?
